Chana Rice / Chana Pulao

     Chana / Chickpeas are high in protein and make an excellent replacement for meat in vegetarian and vegan diets.
     
     Chickpeas are packed with vitamin A, which is an essential vitamin to product our EYES.


INGREDIENTS


Ghee - 2 Tablespoon

Cardamom - 2

Cumin - 1 Teaspoon

Clove - 3

Curry leaves - As required

Ginger - An inch size

Garlic - 3 Cloves

Salt - As required

Chili powder -  1 Tablespoon

Chana (Kabuli/White) - 1 Cup

Rice - 2 Cups

Water - 1 and 1/2 Cups


Pre Preparation

# Wash and Soak the rice in water for about 30 minutes before cooking.

# Soak Chana overnight and pressurize it in cooker for about 5 whistles.


METHOD

1. Heat the pressure cooker and add in Ghee, Cumin, Cardamom, Cloves, Star Anise, Cashew nuts, Curry leaves, finely chopped Garlic and Ginger.

2. Let them sizzle for few seconds.

3. Add chopped onion and saute till turns into golden.

4. Add cooked chana and saute.

5. Add salt, chili powder and mix well

6. Filter out the soaked rice and add in to the pressure cooker and stir well for few minutes.

7. Add water and give a little stir.

8. Pressure cook for 2 whistles and serve hot.
